Marc Silverstein hosts "The Best Of," the hit Food Network show that profiles the nation’s most popular restaurants. From five-star sensations to Mom and Pop diners, Marc and co-host Jill Cordes take viewers behind-the-scenes each day at 1:30pm EST to discover the stories and recipes that make restaurants a success. Marc is also the co-author of Food Network Best Of The Best Of, from HP Books, a compilation of the favorite destinations and recipes featured on the show. In addition, Marc hosts a number of Food Network specials, including "Ballpark Cafe," "Snacks Unwrapped," "Ice Cream Unwrapped" and "Champagne Uncorked." Marc is also a popular dinner and luncheon speaker, as well as a frequent emcee at numerous events.

"Fresh," "lively" and "ornery," Marc Silverstein joined Food Network after a successful career as a broadcast journalist. Marc’s most recent stint had him covering Washington, DC for the local NBC station. But before that, he spent nearly a decade as a dedicated consumer/investigative reporter, first at WMAR in Baltimore, and before that, at WSYX in Columbus, Ohio.

As a consumer advocate in Baltimore, Marc won an Emmy for his special brand of reporting, and he’s also received numerous Emmy nominations. His vigorous investigations exposed scams, cut red tape and put more than a few politicians in the hot seat. Marc's continuing series of reports on problems with child safety seats earned him the Public Service Award from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Marc's dynamic personality often attracts as much attention as his aggressive journalism. The Columbus Dispatch newspaper called his style "the freshest and liveliest on any local newscast...a dazzling display of chutzpah and helpfulness." The Other Paper, a local Ohio weekly, described him as one of the "cool cats (who) make Columbus better" and went on to label him "local TV's last ornery man."

Marc has a BA in broadcast journalism from The American University in Washington, D.C. He lives with his wife, Kathy, their son Spencer and daughter Lexy in Maryland. Feel free to contact Marc at bestofbook.com
